Declutter, a vacation from the Pause
Today I had a vacation from our collective pause. I did not violate any city, county or state directives, I just cleaned my car. Well, not the whole car, just the trunk. It sounds very menial and pedestrian, but the trunk looks like a mobile hoarder show. I have said a bazillion times prior to myself and friends that it needs to be cleaned and I have no time to do it. Ms. Coronavirus has reclaimed time for me. Today was sunny and breezy, so I began my journey.
I received the hoarder gene in the womb from both sides of the family. Having double scoops of ice cream is good, having this exponential idiosyncrasy not so much. On the hoarder show, they say it’s a mental health issue, which I choose the former and carry on. I had to get the rolling garbage cans and a chair, unlocked the car and opened the trunk and there was a pile of my life, BC (Before COVID-19).
I was sheepish and almost overwhelmed, but it needed to get done and I had no excuse. Everything in the trunk was layered like sedimentary rock. I pulled each item out for its individualized review. Everything has a category: personal, professional, theater, miscellaneous. The evaluation was determined and it was either valued or trashed.
My vacation started with bills. Thankfully, paid, but the actual bill and receipt that had to be ripped into tiny pieces and put in the recyclable bin. Books that I purchased or borrowed. I ended up with a stack that I’ll start reading this weekend and hopefully, the in-person book return will happen soon…
