Halloween weekend, is it over yet?

I used to love Halloween. Dress in a costume, walk around a neighborhood or two and get free candy. Fill up a bag or pillowcase; yes, yes, yes, I am all in. My parents would check my candy bag, take out the questionable apples, coins, unwrapped and hopefully razor blade free candy and Voila!, bring on the sugar rush with an exit to the cavity freeway.

Now, I’m an adult and other than seeing little kids in costumes, I’m over it. Skimpy, racist, sexist, political costumes which for some were fun are now triggering for others. Too much alcohol or other prescriptions make for a harrowing soiree or party. Also random kids at your door with no adult in sight, taking too much candy because they are greedy or is it hungry? It’s too much for me to handle.

For all of you that love it, have fun and be careful!

I’ll stay inside on social media or Netflix with the lights off and pray that it goes quick.

It doesn’t, but I’ll keep hoping…
