Justice for Theranos Felons: Sunny Balwani gets more prison time than Elizabeth Holmes?

Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani received a 13 year sentence in the trial surrounding Theranos and its fraudulent blood machine. Elizabeth Holmes received an 11 year sentence in a separate trial also ending in 2022. Holmes was the founder and chief executive officer of Theranos. Sunny was the president and chief operating officer of the company. They were lovers.

Lives were placed in peril, billions of dollars was spent and Mr. Balwani received more prison time than Elizabeth Holmes. Holmes was the face of the company. She was interviewed by magazines, corporations, talk shows and podcasters. A television show, The Dropout focused on her meteoric rise as a wealthy dropout and subsequent entrepreneurial enterprise. Holmes was selling her scheme to revolutionize the healthcare industry to dignitaries across the nation and globe.

Justice was served, though it does seem curious…
