Netflix is ill
It’s not the 90’s, so I don’t mean cool. Netflix stock price is in freefall. Netflix has decided to target their customers for password sharing to stem the financial bloodletting. They intend on ferreting out this practice among their subscribers who have been canceling their subscriptions. While password sharing does impact their financial bottom line, that is not the reason why they are losing subscribers. Netflix is a victim of the adage, Netflix and chill.
Your streaming platform came to fruition in 1997. It was new and fresh. Exposure to cinematic favorites, iconic and historic television shows segued into original content, such as Bloodline, the public was hooked. Most people subscribed and binge watched cutting edge dramas, cartoons, comedies and documentaries. Netflix was an integral part of everyone’s extracurricular activities. Netflix has lost its street cred.
The list below is why I think Netflix fell asleep during and after the chill.
- Stop overpaying the talent. Dave Chappelle, excellent return on investment, Amy Schumer, uh, no. There are new and talented people in this world, give them a shot or reinvigorate a career i.e. Monique.
- The channel is cumbersome, it takes too long to find an item to watch. If you ever tried to search, you know what I mean. I don’t care about what other people are watching or what is trending.
