Pay it Forward, Thank you

Today I donned my mask for a lunch indoors at a local restaurant. I used a new mask, which clashed with my outfit. It was exciting to meet with a friend and chat it up; like we did before Coronavirus. You know, those days without hand sanitizer in a holster and when only superheroes, surgeons, welders and your dental hygienist wore masks everyday.

The restaurant was in total compliance and that is the additional reason why I frequent the establish. The food is reason number one and it’s delicious. We ordered, chatted and chuckled. Our food arrived quickly, which is reason number three for my frequent visits and recommendations. We ate, chewed and still managed to chuckle (mouth closed) and drank some beverages (non-alcoholic) in between bites. Our waitress was nice and very attentive, which is reason number four….

We had eaten everything on our COVID-19 paper plates; no leftover boxes needed. Our waitress came back to clear our table and ask if we wanted dessert. We declined and waited for her to come back with the check. She returned and said we were all set, that a gentleman at the bar had paid for our lunches.

We were stunned. We asked the waitress again and she repeated that we were all set. My friend asked where the gentleman was sitting. He was at the end of the bar, out of sight. My friend got up and thanked him first, while I guarded our…
