I am a writer. Also for almost three months, a songwriter and recording artist. I’m an independent artist on GruvGate Records which is a boutique independent record company. Thankfully, due to technology, individuals who are creative in different industries, such as literary, film and music can now self-publish, use cell phones, purchase instruments and computer programs to compete for streams and views. Mystified started out as a poem and was delivered to the gifted mixmaster Darren Sains, founder of GruvGate Records. Darren created the beats and selected talented singer Christin Devine to give Mystified the sound and spice of old school rhythm & blues. The song is available on Distrokid, Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, Apple Music, beatport.com.
How to market the song was my next question? GruvGate Records and Sparro Entertainment have made stunning marketing clips, reels and videos that underscore the cool beats of Mystified. These works of art are posted on YouTube and Instagram. They have promoted online, attended festivals and chatted with their contacts. This question was answered in full.
What can I do as the artist to market the song? I don’t have a team of people like Lizzo, Usher, Beyoncé, Drake, Cher and Madonna. I don’t yet have an EP or album to promote with a tour or a festival, so what should I do? Well, social media was my answer. I chose Twitter to use for…
