Shoutout to October

To start October I put my best fork forward yesterday and had pumpkin pie. It was homemade without whip cream and delicious. I don’t drink coffee,<gasp!> so the pumpkin spice and derivatives such as latte is a drink craze that is beyond my comprehension. No hot pumpkin beverages for me. Your personal patience with September has now been awarded, have a lovely time with your favorite autumnal beverage.

Although it’s a little sad that summer is gone, now is a fab time to wash, fold and put away most of your summer clothes. Break out your favorite hooded sweatshirt and check the calendar for the dates that you are apple picking, drinking cider and eating warm apple cider donuts. Apple pie, applesauce and apple crisp are in your immediate future.

Get ready to rake some leaves or watch someone else do it. Rakes, leaf blowers and bags everywhere. It is back breaking work. Hats off to the individuals and landscaping crews that keep those leaves off of lawns and out of sight.

You have the rest of the month to select the best Halloween costume. Are you going to a party as a meme? Political statement, risque look, superhero or other? Get a bunch of friends and it could be a group costume. Be creative and I look forward to your pictures. Enjoy!
