Who is still watching Grey’s Anatomy?

I just read that this show has been renewed for its nineteenth season. Really, ABC? I vaguely recall watching it for thirty minutes in the first season and I bailed. I tuned in for Patrick Dempsey and Isaiah Washington for my evening eye candy. No offense to Shonda Rimes, but it didn’t compel me to stay, so I passed on it. I definitely haven’t tried to watch any other seasons in the past seventeen years. I know Dempsey and Washington were booted/written off the show for various reasons. I know Shonda has been off writing/creating, producing other shows for awhile and currently helming Bridgerton.

Are people still watching it because it was their first show on social media? At this point the show is almost vintage. The show started in 2005. Time is going at warp speed! Facebook launched in 2004 and Grey’s was probably on everyone’s Newsfeed by the third or fourth season. I asked a couple of friends and one said their Mom, aunt and a couple of cousins still watch the show. Is ABC really hurting to find new shows to develop?
